Description

Thin disk pump optics for guiding up to 30 kW of pump power multiple times over a laser active thin disk medium, such as provided by our TD20 or TD25 disks.

FEATURES

  • Can be operated with a pump power of up to 30 kW (so far tested with 13 kW, due to non-availability of pump diodes with 30 kW of pump power; in multimode operation an output power of 7.8 kW was demonstrated)
  • For laser disks with a free aperture of up to 17 mm (TD 20, TD 25) and pump spot diameters of up to 20 mm (please contact us about a larger sized TD)
  • For guiding the pump light with 48 passes over the laser disk
  • The pump power should be delivered in fibers. Interfaces for common fiber connectors are available. In a special version up to three fibers can be applied
  • Vacuum sealed, so that laser disk can be operated in vacuum
  • Water cooled frame and optics
  • Cooling channels in stainless steel for DI water
  • Symmetrical cooling to avoid thermal misalignment
  • Inclusive collimation and fiber connector for one fiber
  • Laboratory version for R&D
  • Pump concept protected by patents EP 1 252 687 and EP 1 103 090, invented by Dr. Giesen and Coworkers, licensed to D+G; pump concept for 48 passes protected by patent DE 10 2013 114 748.8

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

For laser operation dust-free environment is required. Dust will cause slow degradation of the laser disk surface and output power in continuous wave operation and can cause disk damage in pulsed operation. If the set-up is mounted on a breadboard this breadboard should be placed on a flat surface. Don’t use any small supports e.g.  to realize  a three-point-support. For laser operation dust-free environment is required. A water connection is necessary for operating the TDM 30 thin disk module. The following specifications of the cooling water connection must be fulfilled (if other specifications are needed, please consult our team for realizability):

  • pressure: 3..4 bar
  • temperature: 10..20 °C
  • laser disk flow rate: 10 l/min
  • other parts flow rate: 10 l/min
  • connections: two barbed fittings for inner tube diameter 19 mm
  • quality: roughly filtered, deficient in lime
