Thin Disk Gain Media

 

Thin disk gain media, a solid state – mostly Yb:YAG – gain medium with small thickness compared to the laser beam diameter, which is being contacted onto a heat sink and operated as an active mirror. Our thin disk gain media are being delivered within a Ferrule to be installed in our thin disk pump modules (TDM). The thin disk acts as a mirror with laser gain and can be used as end- or folding mirror within a laser resonator or linear amplifier setup.

Thin Disk

Mounting of thin laser crystals, thereby ensuring effective and homogenous cooling, is the key technology for disk lasers. For various laboratory applications as well as for the series production of our OEM customers, we offer disk laser crystals mounted on heatsinks, that are tested at typical operation conditions.

We offer two standard sizes of the laser disk: 12 mm and 20 mm. Two disk thicknesses are available: 0.13 mm and 0.22 mm. Yb:YAG with a doping concentration of 7 at.% Yb3+ is employed. Please refer to the corresponding hand out.
